Ulacia Txakoli

Ulacia Txakoli is a light, sparkling white wine, served best as an aperitif or with seafood. It comes from Getariako Txakolina, a renowned wine producing region in Spain’s Basque Country. Ulacia is a classic example of a refreshing and simple white wine. It is a blend of two grapes: 85% Hondarrubi Zuri (a white grape) and 15% Hondarrubi Belza (a red grape). The two grapes are fermented, blended, and then allowed to clarify 24 hours before bottling. Captured CO2 from fermentation is kept in the bottle in order to give the wine a refreshing carbonation. The final wine is a pale yellowish green color with aromas of green apple and pine. This wine makes a perfect start to any meal.

La Rioja Alta Viña Ardanza Reserva Especial 2001

La Rioja Alta Viña Ardanza Reserva Especial 2001

“Clear and brilliant dark cherry red. Medium-high robe, with an incipient iodine tone on the rim of the glass. Intense, spicy and balsamic aromas, including coconut, vanilla, cinnamon and mint chocolate, over dry nuts. Its refined and complex bouquet is reminiscent of the brand’s mythical vintages, especially 1964. Structured and balanced to the palate, with silky tannins. A pleasant, sophisticated after taste, which fills the mouth with never-ending sensations which time will enhance. Especially suitable for roast lamb, grilled chops, game and rabbit, fish cooked in sauce and smoked and well-cured cheese.”

L’Avion De Papier Chardonnay 2010

“The great terroir of Burgundy inspired us to create this Chardonnay from the coveted property of one of our most important vigneron. The property lies in the fog belt of Sonoma County. This is some of the coolest climate in Northern California and home to the some of the most premium old vine chardonnay vineyards in the world. This is where the Chardonnay grape possesses a magical quality: that when grown perfectly and vinified with as little intervention as possible, evokes a timeless appreciation for all things around you. This was our inspiration for L’Avion de Papier. That when thrown perfectly and soaring gracefully can be one of the most beautiful sites we remember as children. Evoking a special moment that inspired our appreciation for the intersection of time and place. The grapes are hand harvested and gently pressed. Fermentation is all in stainless steel and the wine is aged sur lie before being bottled.”

Innocent Bystander Moscato 2011

“This wine is light in alcohol, fantastically fizzy and shows summer fruits, rose petal and Turkish delight. Captured in the perfectly sized 375mL crown sealed bottles, we suggest serving with a straw and cellaring for 10 minutes – on ice…It’s an ideal summer drink, served very cold, as an aperitif or with a fruit-based dessert, or after dinner as a pick-me-up. With moscato, you can hit the jackpot.”

Domaines Schlumberger Pinot Blanc Les Prince Abbes 2009

Domaines Schlumberger Princes Abbes Pinot Blanc (2009)

A light and luscious wine from France’s Alsace region.

“The robe is bright yellow with green reflections. The disc is bright and luminous. The nose is fine and delicate, on floral and fruity notes. Green lime and grape fruit notes can be found after airing. In the mouth, the onset is generous, slightly full-bodied but very supple nevertheless. We can find all the characteristics of a solar vintage. In the middle mouth, we evolve on more mineral, slightly tonic notes. The finish is of medium length and very fine, making this wine very pleasing to drink.

This wine goes well with a platter of charcuterie or sea food or with asparagus.”
